CASE DETAIL

Complete work from terminal design to the onboard closed loop

The project covers industrial terminal design, infrared imaging, grayscale processing, embedded software, field communication and a companion configuration utility.

Project overview

The terminal captures site imagery with an SC3336 camera, calculates the full-frame mean grayscale value and compares it with a threshold on RV1126. A 480×480 display shows the live image, current grayscale value, threshold and NORMAL or ALARM state. The terminal also receives threshold values and sends state-specific control data over RS485.

Core result: Infrared imaging, grayscale decision, local display, parameter management and serial linkage operate as one onboard application loop.

Work delivered

The enclosure, component layout, algorithm, communication and companion tool were integrated around a single onboard operating target.

01

Industrial terminal enclosure design

Defined the terminal form, front-panel information hierarchy, branded boot screen and status interface so image, grayscale, threshold and operating state remain visible together.

02

Internal structure and component layout

Integrated the camera, infrared illumination, 480×480 display, processor board and RS485 interface while accounting for viewing angle, connections and assembly.

03

Infrared grayscale algorithm

Calculated the full-frame mean grayscale value onboard, produced NORMAL or ALARM according to a configurable threshold and recorded state changes.

04

Embedded application

Integrated Linux, the SC3336 camera, 480×480 live display, UART3/RS485 communication, startup launch and a single-process application.

05

RS485 configuration utility

Delivered a Windows executable that writes the grayscale threshold over RS485, receives the device echo and stores the accepted value on the terminal.

06

System integration and versioned delivery

Combined acquisition, decision, display, parameter management and control output into an onboard loop with versioned programs and deployment artifacts.

Terminal workflow and key technologies

The data path starts at camera acquisition, passes through onboard grayscale calculation and threshold comparison, and feeds local display, control output and parameter retention.

Delivered results

The terminal provides standalone image acquisition, state assessment, on-site display and serial communication.

Live image displayThe SC3336 feed remains visible on the 480×480 screen together with current grayscale, threshold, processing frame rate and operating state.
Onboard grayscale decisionThe terminal uses full-frame mean grayscale as an image-state feature and switches locally between NORMAL and ALARM.
Online RS485 configurationA Windows utility writes the grayscale threshold over RS485; the new value is applied immediately and retained after restart.
State-linked outputNORMAL and ALARM produce control values 0 and 9000 respectively, bringing the vision result into an industrial serial linkage.

Solution advantages

Edge-side closed loop

Acquisition, grayscale calculation, decision, interface and RS485 output run on the embedded terminal without a cloud service.

Integrated hardware and software

Enclosure, structure, camera, illumination, display, processor, algorithm and interface were designed toward one terminal objective.

Maintainable parameters

The threshold can be changed online through the commonly used RS485 interface, echoed by the device and stored persistently.

Clear delivery mapping

The onboard program, system configuration, Windows utility and versioned artifacts correspond to one another for integration and deployment.

Frequently asked questions

What development work is included?

The work includes enclosure and structural design, SC3336 integration, a full-frame mean grayscale algorithm, 480×480 live display, UART3/RS485 communication, a threshold utility and onboard application deployment.

How is the grayscale state determined?

The terminal reads the full-frame mean grayscale value, compares it with the configured threshold, produces NORMAL or ALARM and updates both the local interface and RS485 control output.

Can the threshold be changed through RS485?

Yes. The Windows utility writes the threshold over RS485. The new value is applied immediately and remains available after the terminal restarts.

Which scenarios fit this case?

Industrial dust image-state assessment, infrared grayscale monitoring, internal equipment observation, offline threshold alarms and RS485-linked embedded vision terminals.
