Procurement guide
Assess an I2C sensor interface board by first documenting the chosen devices, controller, connections and intended read/write tasks. A sensor name alone cannot determine whether level translation, address switching, bus branches or firmware changes are required, and is insufficient for a firm quotation.
Organizing the development inputs
Swipe the table horizontally to view all columns.
| Input object | Fields to supply | Development decision affected |
|---|---|---|
| Controller and sensors | Full part numbers, datasheet revisions, register definitions and existing project | Peripheral resources, drivers and initialization order |
| Address inventory | Each device address, notation and address-pin states | Shared-bus conflicts and switching conditions |
| Power and logic | Supply rails, logic levels, power sequencing, existing pull-ups and translators | Schematic, level matching and component selection |
| Connection topology | PCB traces or cables, branches, connectors, cable lengths and ground connections | Bus loading, waveform checks and mechanical constraints |
| Access tasks | Target bus speed, read period, data size, concurrent devices and observed faults | Firmware scheduling, timeouts and recovery scope |
Evaluate cable length together with connection, loading and device conditions; a distance is not a universal I2C limit. Consult NXP UM10204 for electrical and timing definitions, then confirm each device's permitted conditions in its datasheet.
Resolving address-notation ambiguity
This is an address-conversion example, not an actual sensor specification: a 7-bit address of 0x48 becomes a write address byte of 0x90 or a read address byte of 0x91 after a one-bit left shift and addition of the read/write bit. Whether a driver expects a 7-bit address or the complete address byte depends on its API; do not shift an address twice.
Retain the datasheet notation, normalized address and driver parameter format in the input table. This exposes notation errors before schematic review rather than leaving an unanswered transaction to guesswork about wiring or device failure.
Defining the first work package
Review the documents and topology, record missing conditions, then define schematic work or board changes, prototype fabrication, firmware and target-board integration separately. List prototypes, component purchases, instruments, wiring and on-site support separately. Agree acceptance and fees against the actual inputs.
The Chinese-language IMX585 board project report illustrates coordination between board interfaces and sensor control; it does not validate another device. Use the Chinese-language hardware development service for circuit design or the Chinese-language MCU firmware service for drivers. This page concerns procurement inputs; define fault scenarios and delivery checks after agreeing the scope.
