Service overview

4G industrial DTU transmits the serial port data of the instrument or control device to the server through the cellular network. Winge Technology carries out hardware, firmware and server interface development for projects such as adding networking capabilities to existing serial devices, secondary development of communication boards and customized DTU products.

Serial port and communication hardware

Design the transceiver, level conversion, isolation and protection circuit according to the UART, RS-232 or RS-485 interface, and complete the integration of main controller, module, power supply and antenna based on the installation conditions.

Data transparent transmission and connection management

Develop serial port transceiver buffering, packetization, TCP/UDP connections, heartbeats, disconnection detection and reconnection, and clarify message boundaries and data processing when links are abnormal.

Parameter configuration and operation and maintenance

Develop baud rate, serial port format, server address and APN configuration, and add configuration verification, log, version query and controlled reset functions.

Business system access

Connect to the existing server of the enterprise; when it is necessary to parse the instrument protocol, add register or message parsing, field conversion and MQTT/HTTPS interface.

Data and Operational Workflow

Field device serial port output → DTU reception and subcontracting → 4G data connection → Enterprise server reception → Business system analysis and display. Downstream data is returned to the device according to permissions and protocols, and delivery and execution status are confirmed according to business requirements.

The transparent transmission project retains the original device messages; the protocol conversion project requires clear fields, units, addresses, and read and write permissions. Offline cache capacity, retransmission and deduplication methods are determined by the data frequency and server processing mechanism.

The source code, design files, number of prototypes and maintenance scope are listed in the project brief. Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between DTU transparent transmission and protocol gateway?

DTU transparent transmission mainly handles data handling and connection management, and the server still needs to understand the original message. The protocol gateway parses registers or business fields on the device side and then maps them into platform messages. When collection polling, data conversion or local rules need to be completed at the edge, the protocol gateway solution can be used.

Can I directly add 4G to an existing RS-485 device?

You can first evaluate the way to connect an external DTU, but you need to check the interface, power supply, bus role and server protocol. If the device uses master-slave polling, it must be clear whether the server initiates the query or the terminal polls locally, and then determines the implementation of transparent transmission or protocol conversion.

How are development costs determined?

Split the workload after evaluating the existing hardware and code, the number of serial ports, whether to parse business protocols, server interfaces and exception recovery requirements. Communication boards, firmware, configuration tools, platform interfaces, prototypes and tests are listed separately, and the delivery materials at each stage are clarified.
